Beyond Academics offers an exciting opportunity for charter and independent schools to access and implement our comprehensive writing and teaching programs—designed to expand youthful thinking, spark inner creativity, and build compositional know-how. After 25 years of successfully training students to write, Beyond Academics now wishes to share our curriculum. We believe in the need for charter and independent schools and their embrace of students with unique capabilities. Like you, we are a company rooted in the belief of the individual, a conviction in each student having a powerful purpose and creative core. While rooted in the academics of compositional writing, we also aim to stretch students beyond, helping them embody their highest potential.
Who is Beyond Academics?
We are an established writing school serving Alameda County since 1999. Since the 2020 pandemic, we have operated solely online. Our proprietary curriculum, invented by an experienced and creative teacher and author, is time-tested, engaging, and effective. After 25 years of successfully training students to write, Beyond Academics now wishes to share their program with charter and independent schools. We are offering a progressive learning program, one empowering 2nd-8th graders in the areas of vocabulary, sentence-crafting, and compositional artistry. At each grade level, students hone organization tactics, planning formulas, descriptive techniques, and more.

We provide the detailed, step-by-step lesson plans and all the accoutrements (handouts, examples, homework assignments, worksheets) plus the academic online games built into the lesson.

We upload all materials into a Google Classroom. Google Classroom is an effective learning platform that simplifies the distribution and evaluating of assignments. Its use has particular advantages for teaching writing online; teachers are able to see and evaluate a student’s work in real time. Curriculum materials are readily accessed by teachers and students; additionally, parents can easily view their child’s progress. Students easily log into their Google classroom via individual laptops.

We meet weekly via Zoom with your teachers for 30 - 40 minutes, training them how to use all aspects of our curriculum. Your teacher evaluates students’ writing and generates progress reports, if applicable.

Portal Beyond Motivational System Offered – Portal-Beyond.com
Our Portal site is a student-friendly motivational system offering learning experiences that enhance lesson concepts and strengthen skills. Students make progress along a trimester game board; as students complete educational activities, they earn achievement badges and collect galactic dollars which they use to build their virtual avatar. This system of consistent encouragement is an effective way for teachers to motivate, reward, and track progress.

Rate for one grade, one class (no cap on student size): $895 (includes one trimester of twelve weeks)*

All features of Option A above apply, with the exception of teacher training. In this program, our teachers conduct the classes during the school day, evaluating students’ work and generating progress reports, if applicable. Option C:
Writing Workshops
Book Reports / Response to Literature Essays (offered for one class of the same grade level)
Led by a celebrated team of educators and working writers in the field, this 8-week workshop is designed to hone reading comprehension and critical thinking skills. Students read and respond to a variety of stories using our classroom-tested formulas. Book reports and Response to Literature compositions are the core of this workshop’s focus, and students are expected to engage in learning activities, both in the classroom and on our Portal site, that are both academically rigorous and fun.
